DESCRIPTION:
Swings is composed of moving objects. Objects make sounds by hitting pieces of glockenspiel. The motor operation sound and crack sound are also used as the sound of the art work.
When people close to these objects, the objects stop moving. And Sounds stop like wild birds and frogs.
The sound is amplified and you can experience the movement and sound from the next room through the glass window without stopping the movement of this art work.
Old glockenspiel and speaker are important items for thinking about their existence. At the same time, I thought that, if old instruments were dancing when there is no one, it would be fun. I was thinking about such things from childhood. I think everyone also thought about the same thing.
CONCEPT:
We cannot recognize all world issues directly, but we can study about many items. I would like to show that something is going on, even if we are not there.
I first made this art work in the broadcasting room of the former elementary school in NAKANOJO Biennale 2017.
The Second time, it was installed for Synthetic Mediart 2019 in Taipei.
Nakanojo is a region where depopulation is progressing. Through the window of the broadcasting room, I can see nobody and I can see only mountains. However, some pieces of equipment of old broadcasting room was not broken. The radio taught me various current global news. These things inspired me and led to this concept.
