「Air Drops」（エア・ドロップス）

Concept （Guide Book, Caption on the venue)
この作品は、旧音楽室に残される空気から、水滴を取り出し、音にする試みである。
放課後の学校に近づくと、ブラスバンドやコーラスの練習音が聞こえ、
ボールの打音に掛け声や駆け足の音が聞こえ、通り過ぎれば、
それらの音は、空気と記憶の中に散っていく。
この作品から聞く音は、過去の音か今の音か。
会場を出て、四万の川音に出会ったら、「音」のことを再び思い出してほしい。
This artwork is an attempt to extract water droplets from the air left in the old music room and turn them into sounds.
Approaching the school building after school, people heard the sounds of brass band and chorus practicing, the sounds of a ball hitting, and the sounds of cheers and running.What kind of sounds do people imagine from this artwork? Is it the sound of the past or the present?
When you leave here and come across the sounds of Shima River, we would like you to imagine various sounds again.

作品空間は、窓の外にある四万の川や沢の音を借景にした音の枯山水です。
3台の、LPレコードぐらいのサイズの円盤には、ここの大気から取り出した水滴が落ちます。
小さなマレットの動きは、虫や水滴をイメージしています。水滴次第で、小さい音を鳴らします。
そうですね、1～2分ぐらい、静かに、ゆったりとしてみてください。
色々な音に紛れて、1～3回、音が鳴るはずです。聞き逃しても大丈夫。
四万の色々な音が聴こえたでしょ。その中にちゃんと貴方の音が紛れ込んでいたはずです。
「4分33秒」も放置しませんから、ご安心ください。
気が向いたら、また、ご来場ください。
9月の始めから10月の始めにかけて、音質がかわります。
あ、空が暗くなると、作品の影がみえてきます（影が何に見えますか？）
細かい説明は野暮ですから、この辺りで、展示スタートといたしましょう。

The work space is a “Karesansui” of sound, with the sounds of Shima rivers and streams as the background of the garden.
The air in this venue condenses and water droplets fall onto a disc about the size of an LP record.
We move small mallets like an insect or a drop of water. Some water droplets make soft sounds.
Well, I’d like you to take a minute or two to be quiet and relax.
You should hear one to three sounds, along with various sounds. It’s okay if you miss it.
You could hear various sounds of Shima area, right?
Among them, there should be your own sound.
Don’t worry. There’s no need for “4 minutes and 33 seconds.”
If you feel like it, please visit here again.
We think the sound quality will change from the beginning of September to the beginning of October.
That’s right, when the sky gets dark, you can see the shadows of the work (what do the shadows look like?)

System Overview (Additional Information)
• 大気から水を造り、水滴として、円盤に滴下させる。
• 円盤（1rpm)に落ちた水滴の存在を読み取る。
• 読み取った信号を即時に処理し、モーターに入力。モーターを信号に応じて作動させる。
• モーターは小さなマレットを動かし、「楽器」を叩き、音を奏でる。
• 気象条件に依り、水の滴下状況が変化する。音の出る状態も変わる。
水滴は大気中の水分なので、暫くすると、元の大気中に自然に戻ります（蒸発します）。
（滴下後すぐに、気象状況が劇的に変わると、この限りではありません）
